Importing Rate Tables
A rate table contains the unit rates your project will be priced against. Each row is a work item with a description, unit, and unit rate. Conio matches BOQ items against this table to produce a priced bill.
Supported sourceโ
Like BOQ tables, rate tables are imported from Google Sheets only. The sheet must be shared with "Anyone with the link โ Viewer" access. See Importing BOQ Tables โ Preparing your Google Sheet for the sharing steps.
Multi-sheet workbooksโ
If your rate book spans multiple sheets (e.g. civil works on one tab, building works on another), import each tab as a separate rate table. Use the sheet selector that appears after pasting the URL.
Import walkthroughโ
- In Table Manager, click Import Google Sheet.
- Paste the share URL and click Load.
- Select the sheet tab if multiple tabs are present.
- Map the columns:
| Target field | What to map | Required |
|---|---|---|
| Description | Rate item name or description | Yes |
| Unit | Unit of measurement | Yes |
| Rate | Unit rate (numeric) | Yes |
| Work Class | Trade or work category label | No |
| Reference | Item code | No |
- Preview and confirm, then click Import.
Flat vs hierarchical rate tablesโ
Understanding this distinction affects how you configure the Matcher Scoring Profile later.
Flat rate tableโ
Every rate item is at a single level โ no hierarchy. The full description is on one row and includes all identifying information.
Description Unit Rate
โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ
Concrete C-25, foundations mยณ 4,200
Concrete C-25, columns mยณ 4,800
Concrete C-20, blinding mยณ 3,100
Reinforcement, high yield, 10mm dia kg 65
Flat tables come from template-based or spreadsheet-maintained rate books. Use the Flat rate table preset in the Matcher Scoring Profile.
Hierarchical rate tableโ
Items are grouped under heading rows, mirroring a BOQ structure. Ancestors carry context that individual leaf rows do not repeat.
03. CONCRETE WORKS
03.1 Foundations
C-25 concrete mยณ 4,200
C-20 blinding concrete mยณ 3,100
03.2 Superstructure
C-25 concrete, columns mยณ 4,800
Use the Hierarchical table preset for this structure.
If descriptions are long and self-contained (everything needed is in one row), it is flat. If short descriptions only make sense with their parent headings, it is hierarchical. You can change the preset later without re-importing.
Rate tables from the Template Libraryโ
Conio can generate a rate table directly from your URA Template Library. Items produced this way carry a definitive template link โ when a BOQ item matches one of these rates, its URA is adopted verbatim from the template with no AI call. See Exporting for details.
